Health Careers Courses
*Medical Terminology

Introduction to medical terms, association with body systems, medical
word structure – root words, prefixes, suffixes, pronunciation,
spelling, abbreviations, symbols, and use of reference manual.

Culinary Arts
ServSafe – Certification for Food Service Work

National Restaurant Association Education Foundation certification
sanitation training for food service workers. This course
provides the knowledge and skills to prevent food, alcohol, and safety
related incidents, improve food service operations, and reduce the risk

Chef Willy Walker of Willy B’s catering in Bethel will prepare a
variety of chicken dishes and teach you lots of ways to use various
parts of a whole chicken. Participants will help with the

Learn and practice the skills of electric welding, acetylene cutting,
and MIG welding. Basic metal repair projects will be

Woodworking

Join us for this introduction to woodworking. Learn about hand
and power tool use and maintenance and tool sharpening. Complete
woodworking projects of your choosing at your own pace. Previous
attendees or those with woodworking experience are welcome to bring a
project and attend for an open and assisted shop experience.

Automotive Maintenance & Repair – Part 1

Learn a wide range of basic auto maintenance & repair skills.
Some of the topics we’ll cover include fluid levels, lubrication

Landscape & Garden Design Using Native Plants

introduce you to the landscape design process with special emphasis
placed on native plants in the residential landscape. Classes
will focus on design methods using site analysis techniques and

choice and placement in the landscape.

Know Your Teenager’s Rights

Parents and teenagers are welcome to attend this session focused on the
constitutional rights of teenagers. Attendees will explore the
limits of free speech in schools, learn how teens should interact with
the police, and gain an understanding of other teen rights.
Computer Classes
For all computer classes except the Basic Skills Drop in Lab, students
should have some experience with a mouse and basic computer
vocabulary. Computer class sizes are limited, so please register
early.

This class is for those who have worked with Word and want to learn
more about all those things you’ve seen others do. Topics
will include: inserting files, bookmarks, and hyperlinks; drawing
tables; borders; shading; mail merge; labels; and converting Word
documents to .txt., .pdf, and .rft. There will also be time for
learning the skills that class members request.

Access. Course topics include: creating a new database,
creating tables, determining appropriate fields, sorting & finding

macros, and mail merge with Microsoft Word.

PhotoShop CS 2

Join RTCC’s Graphic Arts instructor for this fun, hands-on course
for beginning Photoshop users. Learn the basic methods of
contemporary electronic imaging in Photoshop with instruction and
practice in tools, image manipulation, editing and composing, color and
tone, selection techniques, using type, channels and layers. If
you are new to Adobe Photoshop, this is the foundational program you
need. Experience using a Macintosh computer is helpful but not
required.

Computer Drop In Time

Need some time with a computer and/or someone who can answer your
computer questions? Come and ask your questions and learn and
practice new things. This is not a structured class, but it is a
wonderful opportunity for learning, for getting assistance with your
computer questions, and for using our high speed Internet connection or
software that you may not have at home. Come once, come twice, or
come many, many times.
Web Design Series

Introduction to HTML

HTML is an easy-to-learn programming language that you, the webmaster,
can use to publish complex pages of text and images to the
Internet. In this class, you’ll get started with HTML by
creating web pages using tools you already have on your computer.
Then we’ll take a look at on-line tutorials and references to use
when you’re ready to learn more.
Introduction to CSS (Cascading Style Sheets)

Now that you know a little HTML, you might wonder how to take charge of
your page layout. Cascading style sheets (CSS) is a natural
companion to HTML and gives you control over fonts, colors, borders,
and overall page layout. Prerequisite: Introduction to HTML.
Domains and Hosting

In this class you’ll learn how to carve out your own little slice
of the World Wide Web. You’ll learn how register your
domain name, what to consider when selecting a Web host, and how to
connect the two together to appear on the Internet. This is a
hands-on class, so we’ll make time to actually register your
domain and select a Web host, if you’d like.
Host-Based Content Management Systems

A content management system (CMS) allows you to create a robust,
dynamic website with very little knowledge about the guts of the
Internet. While many CMS sites are community-based, the tools can
be used to combine blogs, forums, photo galleries, on-line storefronts,
or any other site you can dream up. This class will get your
CMS-based website up and running. We’ll start with an
overview of CMS software, then schedule some one-on-one time for
installing and configuring your CMS system. Prerequisite:

Digital Photography Series
Take one course, take two, or take all three! Cost for one course is
$40. Cost for two courses is $65. Cost for all 3 is
$85. (Each course is 2 sessions.) These courses are
designed to introduce Windows tools, and help you learn “how to

Basic Digital Photography

Learn the basics of digital photography, including how to get your
pictures from your camera to the computer, how to copy files, and how
to get organized. Cameras are optional but encouraged.
Photo Editing and Sharing Your Pictures with Others

Learn basic photo correction skills. Learn how to share photos
with friends and family using Picasa, Flickr, and e-mail.
Participants should have a basic understanding of how to take a photo
and how to transfer it to your personal computer. Cameras are optional
but encouraged.
How to Take Better Photos!

Learn photo techniques for photography. Participants should have
their own digital camera and a basic understanding of its
operation. This class will focus on how to improve the quality of
your photos and how to capture more memorable pictures. We will
focus on ways to take less blurry photos, taking photos with an
artistic eye, and use the more advanced features of cameras.

Beginning Sewing

For those aged 62 and up, there is a 10% discount. Additional

NEW!! Attention Vermont Employers
Through a collaboration with the Vermont Training Program, Vermont
Department of Economic Development, RTCC may be able to offer a 50%
discount for those employed by companies in the Manufacturing, IT,
Environmental, Telecommunications, and Health Care fields. Please

information. Approved courses are marked with a * and
include Welding, Medical Terminology, Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA),

Refunds & Cancellations
Tuition refunds will be made only if you notify the Adult Education
Office by 4 p.m. on the Thursday before the class is scheduled to
begin. RTCC will cancel classes that do not meet minimum
enrollment requirements. If this occurs, registrants will be
notified, and refunds will be made.

High School Diploma: Late afternoon classes at RTCC can help you
earn a Randolph Union High School diploma. Also, the Vermont
Adult Diploma Program offers high school diplomas through assessment,
home study, and tutoring. Call the RTCC Adult Education Office
